TURN KIDS ON TO
WRITING - PERMANENTLY!
INSTRUCTOR(S): Laurie Holmquist,
Madison
GRADE LEVEL: 1-8
Participants will spend the week learning how to craft
writing lessons using the 6+1 Traits method of teaching
writing. All aspects of writing will be covered,
as well as how to reach the reluctant writer.
Participants will write themselves, and keep a daily
journal for the week. A wide variety of the newest
and best titles in children's literature will be
available for use in writing lessons, as well as
enjoyment. If teaching writing has been a chore,
when you finish this workshop, you will be equipped to
teach it with enthusiasm and confidence - guaranteed!
Participants will:
 |
Create lessons that cover all of the Wisconsin
State Standards in the writing portion of the
language arts curriculum. |
 |
Learn how to teach writing to all abilities of
children, at the same time, guaranteeing that no
child is left behind in the writing process. |
 |
Learn how to evaluate children's literature and
select those titles that are appropriate for the
teaching of each of the traits, ensuring them an
enriching curriculum for the teaching of
writing, from the bookshelves of their own
classrooms. |
